Stacey Lynn Schulman is an award-winning media executive at the intersection of analytics and traditional market research. As the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Analytics at Katz Media Group. she leads a team of professionals across the Katz Radio (KRG) and Katz Television (KTG) divisions to provide world-class audience and consumer analytics for Katz partners, advertisers and agencies. Ms. Schulman is focused on developing new insights, techniques and approaches that bring additional revenue into the radio sector and expand the target-ability of broadcast television.
Prior to joining Katz, Ms. Schulman served as the Chief Research Officer for TVB, the television station marketing association, where she was responsible for driving new approaches to cross-platform and social metrics at the local market level. A recognized expert in fan culture behavior, Ms. Schulman has conducted significant & award-winning interactive and social media research, including work with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that introduced the value of what consumers create and share in their digital lives. Her work and vision in the arena of consumer expression led to the development of Initiative Media's social media practice, PropheSEE, pre-dating Facebook, Twitter and Get Glue. Ms. Schulman was also one of two executive catalysts within Interpublic who brought the holding company's leadership together with Facebook to orchestrate their .5% investment in the social media giant.
Ms. Schulman is also a highly experienced traditional researcher, having conducted print, radio, digital, cable and broadcast research for media entities (CBS, Turner Broadcasting), advertising agencies (DMB&B, Bozell, TN Media, Initiative) and media representative firms (Katz Television). Widely respected in the industry, she has been routinely quoted in trade & consumer media outlets, and has appeared regularly on CNN, CNBC and FOX News Channel to discuss media trends. She was recently honored as the Gold Medal recipient for Innovation at the Advertising Research Foundation’s (ARF) Great Mind Awards (2012).
Ms. Schulman is currently the Chair of the Big Data Committee for the Council for Research Excellence, as well as a member of the Media Rating Council and the Market Research Council. She has also served as a former president of the Radio and Television Research Council (RTRC) and Board member for the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF). Stacey was honored in 2005 as a “Wonder Woman” in the cable industry by Multichannel News, one of the cable industry’s most prestigious awards. In 2005 and 2003 she was named the most quoted executive in the advertising industry by Advertising Age in the publication’s annual “Media Talk” survey. In 2004, she was inducted into the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Advertising Hall of Achievement, the industry's premier award for outstanding advertising professionals under age 40. Stacey was the first research professional to be inducted into the Hall of Achievement in the AAF’s history. Also in 2004, Stacey was named “Media All Star” in the research category by Mediaweek. In 2003, she was honored as a “Media Maven” by Advertising Age. In that same year, Stacey was profiled in Crain’s New York Business as part of the “40 Under 40 – New York’s Rising Stars” feature.
Ms. Schulman received her B.S. in Radio/TV/Film from Northwestern University and her M.S. in Media Ecology from New York University. She maintains an alternate career as a vocalist, lending her voice to various projects in the New York City area, including her recent duo album, A Love Like Ours, with jazz guitarist (and husband), Alan Schulman. She resides in New Jersey with her family and is a proud mother of two sons, Jacob and Julian, and two step-daughters, Eva and Jocelyn.
