Jorge del Pinal currently serves as the Assistant Division Chief
for Special Population Statistics and was formerly the Chief of
the Ethnic and Hispanic Statistics Branch in the Population Division
of the U.S. Census Bureau. He has over 28 years of experience
in collecting data about, and studying the socioeconomic status
of, the Hispanic and other minority populations in the United States. He
has served as a member of Hispanic Business Magazine’s Board
of Economists. He taught a course Spring 2005 on Sociology of Latin
America at George Washington University. He has been a Fellow
at Stanford University’s Center for Chicano Research, studying
Hispanic population and immigration of Latinos to the United States.
He has served as a statistical and demographic consultant at the
Center of Excellence, Stanford University Medical School. He
has a Ph.D. in Demography from the University of California at
Berkeley, and a B.A. in Economics from San Diego State University.
