Brad Adgate joined Comcast Spotlight in December 2015 as Senior Director, Media Insights. Among his responsibilities include monitoring the ever changing media landscape and provide data and sales support to Comcast Spotlight via write-ups and presentations.
Adgate has over 30 years of experience in media in various capacities. Previous to joining Comcast Spotlight, Adgate spent 17 years, as Senior Vice President, Director of Research at Horizon Media, the nation’s largest independent media services company. Prior to joining Horizon Media, Brad had worked in the media research departments at Grey Advertising, Backer & Spielvogel and Saatchi & Saatchi Compton. Brad also held positions in ad sales research at several top tier cable networks including Turner Broadcasting, TNN and The Family Channel as well as TV and radio syndication companies.
While at Horizon Media, Brad has authored dozens newsletters which covers in-depth analysis of numerous industry topics. In addition, he provides audience estimates, trends, POV’s, presentations, white papers, and an annual program development and upfront analysis. Brad has also been published on numerous occasions by trade publications including Advertising Age and has been a contributor to Forbes.
Brad has been interviewed on numerous television and radio shows such as Bloomberg TV, CNBC, Fox Business and NPR as well as The Daily Show and CBS Sunday Morning. Adgate has been quoted extensively in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and other prominent publications. Brad has also given numerous webcasts and presentations on media topics, has participated in frequent industry related panels and has a member of several advisory boards and committees; including the Council for Research Excellence in which had chaired the Digital Committee, the Board of Directors of the Media Ratings Council, the ambassador for the Advertising Research Foundation and Nielsen's Local TV Policy Guideline Committee. Adgate also served on the advisory boards for Arbitron Radio & Kantar Media. Adgate had also occupied the chair of American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s)’s Media Measurement (formerly research) Committee. Adgate also authored the very first P.O.V. from the 4A’s on the need to improve TV diaries.
In 2002 Brad was named a “Media Maven” by Advertising Age. For several years he has been named the most quoted media executive by Advertising Age in the publications annual "Media Talk" survey. Also in 2006, Brad was named "Media All Star" in the research category by Mediaweek. In 2009, Advertising Age named Adgate as one of “25 Media People You Should Follow on Twitter” @badgate.
Brad is a graduate of Jacksonville University. In 2014 he was named “One of 80 Alumni you should know” by the university.
